Business & Communication

Business

In my opinion business makes today's world go round and your either with it or your not. Business fascinates me personally, I think that it a very interesting study of exchange, behavior, and money. Taking these business classes: Real Estate Fundamentals, Personal Financial Management, Marketing, Business Management, Computer Systems, Managerial Economics, and Accounting, I was able to explore all aspects of basic business. I learned about trade areas for commercial real estate. How to break down different kinds of finance like Individual Retirement Account's and The New York Stock Exchange. I learned why businesses market certain products to certain audiences. I learned how the New York Times can help keep your management skills up to date. I can now build a website and publish it online from what I learned in computer systems class. Economics taught me my teachers Stephen Happel's Life lessons, along with how Demand and Supply works. Lastly, after accounting I can actually balance my checkbook along with a small business if I needed to.

Communication

Can't have business without communicating your business to others. Communication the vital part of business in the world can be something that is taken for granite by many college students when they first enter the real world. Myself, I hope to have conquered that through my degree focus area. In my many communication classes these seemed to have built my communication foundation the most: Public Speaking, Small Group Communication, Conflict and Negotiation, Communication 101(of course), and lastly one of my favorites Gender Communication. Public speaking opened my world to one small fact of life that I will always remember "Say what you mean, mean what you say." Small group communication I learned how to communicate in a team atmosphere with my group members. Negotiation and Conflict taught me different ways to solve communication problems. I got Communication basics from Com 101 like communications history, basic concepts, and the ideas and theory's behind the topic. One thing that I will always remember is that everyone has different agendas and wants different things. When you through a man and a women into the mix then you have that multiplied by a lot. Gender communication taught me that men and women see things in very different ways and how to kind of designate what those things are.
